At Lakes Boulevard Dental, we believe that modern tooth coloured fillings provide better results by combining both aesthetics and durability. While controversy exists around the mercury component of amalgam fillings, many people prefer to avoid them as a precautionary measure, especially when patients have metal allergies.

Here at Lakes Boulevard Dental, we use composite resins to reshape and rebuild damaged teeth in many different ways, including to close gaps between teeth, rebuild worn down teeth, disguise tooth stains and to straighten crooked teeth.

Your tooth may need to be anesthetized first to allow the dentist to work on it without causing you any pain. The tooth is first cleaned thoroughly, and all bacteria are removed with an acid etch. Then an intricate set of steps are taken with care to ensure the filling material is bonded and “glued” to your tooth.

When it is complete, we use a curing light to set the resin hard and test your bite to ensure that opposing teeth fit together comfortably.

There are a number of different cosmetic alternatives we can use to restore your broken teeth.

• Composite Resin: this is our recommended material for small-medium sized cavities.
• Inlay/Onlay: These materials are best for large cavities due to their durability and strength.
• Porcelain Veneers: these are fantastic at rejuvenating discoloured and unsightly front teeth.
• Porcelain Crowns: a crown is needed when there is extreme tooth loss or damage.
